Anti-wrinkle injections use a small amount of botulinum toxin to temporarily relax the muscles responsible for creating expression lines. The result is smoother skin that still moves naturally, you look like yourself, just a little more rested.

This is a prescription-only medicine, which means it must be prescribed by a qualified prescriber following a face-to-face consultation. At The Aesthetic Nurse Studio, Shelley assesses every client individually and will only proceed if the treatment is appropriate for you.

Results typically appear within 7–14 days and last 3–4 months. With regular treatment, many clients find their results lasting longer over time.

Absolutely. Shelley's approach is always to enhance rather than to freeze. The goal is to soften lines while keeping natural movement, you should look refreshed, not worked on. She uses conservative doses and reviews your results at two weeks to ensure you are happy.

Results typically last 3–4 months. Over time, with regular treatment, many clients find they need top-ups less frequently as the muscles gradually relax. Lifestyle factors such as metabolism, sun exposure and smoking can affect longevity.

Most clients are surprised by how comfortable the treatment is. The needles used are extremely fine, and the injections feel like a small pinch lasting a fraction of a second. There is no anaesthetic required. Any mild redness at the injection sites usually fades within an hour.

There is minimal downtime. You may have some redness, minor swelling or pinpoint bruising at the injection sites, but this typically settles within a few hours. Most clients return to their normal activities straight away. You should avoid strenuous exercise, saunas and lying flat for 4 hours after treatment.

Anti-wrinkle injections are not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, for anyone with certain neuromuscular conditions, or for those with a known allergy to botulinum toxin or its constituents. Suitability is always assessed at your consultation, and Shelley will be honest with you if she does not feel the treatment is right for you.

Male facial muscles, including the frontalis (forehead), procerus and corrugator (frown) and orbicularis oculi (crow's feet), are typically larger and stronger than in female clients. Achieving the same therapeutic effect therefore requires a greater volume of botulinum toxin product. The price difference reflects this additional product cost, not an arbitrary charge. Your exact treatment cost will always be confirmed at your individual consultation before any treatment proceeds.
